Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

Thanks to ever-increasing access, today’s consumers seek out licensed physical therapists for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of impairments and disabilities related to movement, function and health.

The accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program at the FIU Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences provides the required educational preparation directed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for a professional career as a physical therapist.

The comprehensive curriculum for this 9-semester program is designed in two components:

(1) a didactic component of classroom and laboratory experiences involving foundational, clinical and physical therapy sciences; and

(2) a clinical component involving experiences in off-campus clinical sites including hospitals, rehabilitation and outpatient centers, skilled nursing facilities and more. As a student, you have a choice among 450 internship opportunities.
