Michael Goldenberg, MS, ATC

Michael Goldenberg, MS, ATC graduated with a BS from Plymouth State College in 1984, after which his professional career began at Brewster Academy located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. In 1989 he earned his Masters of Science degree from SUNY at Buffalo and after graduation became the Head Athletic Trainer at the Lawrenceville School, the largest private boarding secondary school institution in New Jersey. Mr. Goldenberg has held the positions of Head Athletic Trainer, Associate Athletic Director, Athletic Director and currently he serves as one of three full time athletic trainers on staff.

Mr. Goldenberg has volunteered his time to a variety of National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) and Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) committees. He was the founder and first chair of the NATA’s Webmasters Advisory Committee, Chair of the NATA’s District Secretaries/Treasurers Committee, member of the Board of Certification’s Maintenance of Competence Task Force and is the current webmaster and chair of the EATA Technology Committee. Mr. Goldenberg also built his own EMR system that was used at the Lawrenceville School for almost 20 years. Mr. Goldenberg was a member of the ATSNJ Executive Board as Secretary for four years, District 2 Secretary for six years, and four years as District 2 Director. He served on the EATA Executive Board from 2004-2015, as well as the NATA Political Action Committee Board of Directors from 2015-2019. Mr. Goldenberg was also a mentor to the NATA Student Leadership Committee from 2017-2020. He has been a guest speaker at NATA, EATA and ATSNJ conventions on multiple occasions. Mr. Goldenberg's interviews have included an appearance on Fox’s Good Morning Show in Philadelphia, as well as in infomercials and print media. He has been published in the Journal of Applied Physiology and the Journal of Athletic Training. He was the co-chair of the “Inter-Association Consensus Statement on Best Practices for Sports Medicine Management for Secondary Schools and Colleges” which was published in the Journal of Athletic Training and was one of the top NATA athletic training articles accessed in 2013.

Additionally, Mr. Goldenberg has been honored with a variety of recognitions from NATA, EATA and ATSNJ. He was inducted into the ATSNJ Hall of Fame in 2005, the NATA Hall of Fame in 2016 and the EATA Hall of Fame in 2017. Mr. Goldenberg was also the first athletic trainer inducted into Plymouth State University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in the Fall of 2017.
